About David Wallechinsky
David Wallechinsky was born in Hollywood (literally) and grew up with parents in the entertainment industry. He attended film school at San Francisco State University, but he diverted from cinema when he began writing books. Since 2009, he has been attending the screenings of films that are entered in the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film category. He also moderates the question & answer sessions with directors and producers of foreign language films.
Wallechinsky is a member of SAG-AFTRA. He has worked as a radio or television commentator at every Olympic Games since 1988. He also produces and conducts video interviews for the International Olympic Committee of Olympic athletes now aged 75 or older.
In addition to writing about foreign language film nominees, Wallechinsky calls attention to exceptional, but overlooked, films that did not gain a nomination.
