Sometimes the main lesson conveyed by a film is not the one the filmmakers intended. I’m guessing this is the case with Sirat (Sirât) which is directed by Oliver Laxe. The lesson I came away with is that if you try to help someone, you will only make things worse.
Luis (Sergi López) and his son, Esteban (Bruno Núñez), are looking for Luis’ missing daughter. They attend a desert rave in Morocco and show photos of the daughter to anyone they can. The rave is broken up by the military because, brace yourself, World War III may be breaking out.
A sympathetic group of ravers, Jade (Jade Oukid), Steffi (Stefanian Gadda), Josh (Joshua Liam Henderson), Tonin (Tonin Janvier) and Bigui (Richard Bellamy), take pity on Luis and Esteban and lead them in the direction of a possible second, secret rave.
What follows horrible. Do not even think about taking children to this film.
